Abstract

. Classification JEL : G1, G23 [eng] The presence of foreign institutional investors in French companies : industrial or financial logic ? . This article summarises a search on the presence of foreign institutional investors in the capital of French companies. The previous studies did not put in evidence unambiguous relations between the level of companies’ profitability and the presence of foreign institutional investors. They could be guided then more by choices and strategic orientations of companies than by requirement of immediate profitability. Two types of relation are thus in the centre of this research. The first, between investors’ presence and short-term profitability, was widely taken into account in the literature. The second, between investors’ presence and globalisation, constitutes an original approach. This article analyses, with a statistical test, these two assumptions. . JEL classifications : G1, G23
