Abstract

[eng] Bankruptcy regulation in the United States. In the United States, the bankruptcy code applies for both entrepreneurs and households. This article deals specifically with households bankruptcy : chapter 7 and 13 are analyzed. . JEL Classification : G33, K2 [fre] Le nombre de dossiers de surendettement déposés en France, s’il est important, reste cependant modeste comparé aux États-Unis, pays dont la législation à l’égard du surendettement est la plus tolérante du monde. Le code de la faillite régit tant les particuliers que les entrepreneurs : l’idée du « nouveau départ » se retrouve dans la manière dont est traité la faillite personnelle. L’article présente les deux éléments-clés de la réglementation, le chapitre 7 et le chapitre 13. . Classification JEL : G33, K2
