Abstract

[eng] Incorporated companies in Europe in the sixteenth and seventeenth century. International trade development in the sixteenth century led to the development of a new company structure. In northern Europe, more and more joint stock companies were created. Meanwhile, government involvement in industry and trade became more and more important. This article primarily compares changes in England and France, and deals with the well-known bankruptcy of John Law, a bold and pioneering character.
