Abstract

[eng] Savings behaviour in the six major countries in 1996 . In spite of the will to reduce public deficits shown by all six major countries, the need of G6 global economies financing has increased by 34 billion dollars in 1996. Such a deterioration of Saving /Investment ratio is due to the new cut in Japanese current surplus. Conversely, Italy and France have strengthened their lending positions over this period, despite a lesser contribution from households than in 1995. Given that, while Anglo-Saxon household saving effort has lightly increased in 1996, within a context of appreciation of their actual income, household saving rates have decreased in all the other four countries.
