Abstract

[eng] Modelling management . Quantitative models and techniques are now commonplace in the world of financial management. Technical models aim at helping to forecast price levels on markets. Chartist techniques which have been widely used for econometrics, fractal theory, or artificial intelligence. Assessment models, which are more financial and often more solid, are better adapted to the needs of long-term asset management. Risk management models dealing with either portfolio diversification and optimisation or options theory now form part of any manager's basic tools. But the interesting point about models, when conveniently used, is not limited to the improvement of management performance. Besides, models favour a wider transparency, while promoting larger information provision on management strategies and products, and also potentially contribute to enhance control and security of this changing industry.
