Abstract

[eng] Crises and financial scandals in France during the Third Republic. The disclosure of financial and accounting information is a relatively new issue in France. Therefore, from a historical point of view, it is difficult to provide precise elements concerning this issue. . However, crises and scandals have been cropping up and still are, mainly . through corruption, money laundering and various manipulation processes, as . well as by a lack of adequate control or information provided to shareholders, . money lenders and investors. . On the extensive list of major financial scandals, this article aims at presenting . those which resulted from a wilful opacity in the field of financial information.
