Abstract

[eng] In this paper, we provide a model that shows how information exchanges among consumers surfing on the Net shape their demand. Our goal is to study the properties of self organization of this community of consumers searching on the Net in order to make choices among goods of ex ante uncertain quality. We show that the degree of self organization. - hence the propensity to gather information that allow to make satisfying choices. - depends upon (i) the number of discussion forums on which consumer are susceptible to get information ; (ii) the respective weight that consumers their ex ante preferences ; (iii) the initial repartition of the population of consumers across forums.
