Abstract

[eng] This article explores the impact of diversity of learning processes of firms upon the industrial dynamics. We present a simulation model which enables us to analyse the interactions among a population of heterogeneous firms characterised by specific learning and innovation processes. We propose a stylised modelling of internal and external learning processes which takes into account the role of the absorptive capacity of firms and the dynamics of knowledge accumulation. The results of simulations show that the diversity of learning processes leads to an increase in the dynamic efficiency of the industrial structure, thanks to technological complementarity effects.
