Arbitrage salaire-encadrement dans le contrat de travail : le cas des secteurs industriels français

Abstract

[fre] Dans les modèles de salaire d'efficience, l'incitant salarial constitue l'instrument privilégié de l'employeur pour résoudre les problèmes d'inefficience productive due notamment à l'information incomplète. Dans les modèles de tricherie, on retient généralement l'hypothèse d'exogénéité de la technologie de contrôle. Nous proposons un modèle de salaire d'efficience dans lequel l'introduction d'un échelon intermédiaire de supervision met en valeur l'existence d'un arbitrage entre l'incitant salarial et l'encadrement. Cette propriété d'équilibre du modèle n'est pas réfutée lorsqu'on la soumet à une estimation économétrique portant sur les secteurs industriels français sur la période 1984-1991. [eng] In efficiency wage theory, the wage premium is used as an incentive to resolve the productive efficiency problem due in particular to incomplete information. Generally supervision is exogeneous and cannot be used as an incentive device by the firm to monitor work effort. In this paper a simple model is set up to analyse the trade off between wage and hierarchical control in an efficiency-wage framework. The parameter restrictions derived from the theoretical model are thus tested using a pooling of cross-section / time series data on french manufacturing industry for the 1984-1991 period. The result of estimation does not reject the hypothesis of a trade off between wage and supervision in this kind of efficiency-wage relationship.
