  • Olivier Biencourt

[eng] Backed by an empirical research on the road transport sector, this paper originates from the statement that the road transport market cannot be stabilised by a means of a «market convention». This purpose consists of outlining two possible strategies to escape the present destructive competition in this area. Both aim at replacing the price competition by a quality competition. In the first case, one will rely on norms such as ISO 9000 to restore confidence between the road carriers and their customers. This is close to the industrial model in the meaning of Eymard-Duvernay [1989]. In the second case, the market is organised around the concept of net, as defined by Granovetter [1985]. This situation is close to the domestic model of Eymard-Duvernay.
