Abstract

[eng] A current theory about the autoindustry mutation claims that it will bring about the end of "Fordism". This paper attempts to assess wether the Ford M C's recent strategies preserve the essential feature of Fordism or alter the model's nature. From the exemple of a french subsdiary plant, it examines the hiearchical and spatial aspects of the company's international management system. The implementation of the strategies is described and analysed at shopfloor level and from the wider viewpoint of the division of labor between the sites.
