Abstract

[eng] Composite materials (CM) can be industrially produced, both as standard materials and « tallor-made » materials. Therefore they lie on the bordeline between two paradigms : the standardization paradigm and the variety paradigm. That's the reason why for CM one can observe several technological trajectories at the same time. This paper studies those trajectories for CM and their induced learning patterns. Diffusion of « tailor-made » composites in complex systems (planes, cars, trains, etc..) has major technological implications such as integration of several functions, simplifications, integration of several production stages, etc.. The paper shows that the viability of a trajectory induced by a « tallor-made » approach of CM rests mainly on increasing organisational flexibility and inter-industry communication intensity.
