Abstract

[eng] This article describes and tries to explain the inter-industry disparity of wage levels and changes in five european countries, using the structural data base by branch which is published and harmonized by the Statistical Office of the European Communities. It shows the great heterogeneity of situations from a country to an other. Meanwhile, the structure of wage in France is drawing near to the one which is observed in Germany ; and in these two countries, relative wage dispersion is not independent of economic cycles. A econometric model of wage sectorized determination reveals a « flexibility » of wages on medium term in function of the degree of international concurrence and productivity changes which are specific to each industry.
