Abstract

[eng] The present study aims at identifying the micro-economic factors which might possibly explain the external growth of a group of 40 French companies from 1966 to 1975.. External growth appears to be neither a response to price controls nor an attempt to significantly increase the market shares. The phenomenon is intrasectoral and does neither increase the degree of diversification nor reduce foreign competition.. However, even if external growth has not been reducing external pressures, these pressures are the very reason of the operations. The operations under a study are of two forms, according to whether take-over are complete or only partial.
