Abstract

[eng] Abstract The revival of the national mass extremism in Romania after 1989 drawed the attention of the scholars to the historical roots of this trend. If the country has given rise to one of the rare important fascist movements of Eastern Europe, several factors finally opposed to its lasting seizure of power. The relative apathy of an agrarian society, the political grip of an authoritarian monarchy, the impossible expansion ideology of a little power -furthermore territorialy satisfied-, prevailed, over the urban, party-minded, anti-minoritarian and anti-sovietic ferments of a portion of the society, with unsufficient links into the rural areas.
