Abstract

[eng] Abstract In 1776, through the impetus given by Louis XVI's Intendant des Menus Plaisirs Papillon de La Ferté, the French monarchy took direct control of the Académie Royale de Musique (as the Paris opera company was officially called) by enacting a new regulation, valid up to the end of the Ancien Régime. This reorganization leads us to study the relatively small group constituted by the instrumentalists and the singers of the most famous opera company in France. This paper deals with their education, their career, their incomes and highlights of their daily life.
