Abstract

[eng] Abstract SFAC, today Euler-Hermes, had become the leader of credit-insurance. Founded in 1927 because businessmen felt the need to cover commercial risks within the country and abroad, the company benefitted with a spectacular upsurge up to 1931, owing to the help of Swiss insurance firms and of the French State. Harshly struck by the 1930s crisis, SFAC recovered momentum in 1935-1938. But, with the creation of COFACE in 1946, it kept only its credit-insurance activities dedicated to the internal market.
