Abstract

[eng] Abstract The nineteenth century, century of history and science, was a time to criticize the Christian truths. The development of the historical and critical exegesis, the progress of sciences, the expansion of positivism generate a serious crisis. But many Christian people tried to defend their faith or the Christian dogmas. The apologetic talk is the most public and the most polemical expression of the Christian consciousness. That's why it is also vulnerable when confronted with the culture of the time, but this confrontation can be fertile. From Chateaubriand to Auguste Sabatier or Ferdinand Brunetière, this article proposes some marks of the apologetics history in France.
