Abstract

[eng] Abstract The diocese of Saint-Malo was concerned by the jansenist crisis only from the bishopric of Desmaretz (1702-1739). Indeed, on the contrary of his predecessors, this nephew of the great Colbert introducted an episcopalian and gallican Jansenism, wich was not followed profoundly by the diocesians. After years of opposition to Rome, he submitted to the Unigenitus Bull in 1727, and endeavoured an orthodox counter-attack. This jansenist period did not cause - in this diocese - a dechristianization.
