Abstract

[eng] Abstract Between 1600 and 1789, manor has profundly changed. In early 17th century, lords managed their lands according to the local uses and own will. Everybody (lawyers, economists, administrators, philosophers...) criticized this system. Gradually, lords loosed their judical role and influence on their people. They were progressively obliged to submit to the kingdom administration. However, they kept influence on their people about taxes and lands. Some of them decided to apply enlighted technics of management. One remarkable result was to make them distant from their people. They continued to collect taxes, but were unable to protect them. Finally, they lost their leadership and most of people asked for the end of the «feudal» system.
