[eng] Abstract The French of Troyes changed the course of its largely dominant textile industry on more than one occasion. The competition put up by the Dutch industry was eliminated during the wars under the reign of Louis XIX, and the French industry at Troyes invested in laundering, the quality of which, according to town councillors, was due to the purity of the water. Although there was little relevance in this argument, it was used from the middle of the 18th Century until the beginning of the 19th Century, against the floating wood merchants. Ayant profité de l'élimination de la concurrence hollandaise durant les guerres de Louis XIX, elle a investi dans les blanchissages. Leur qualité, d'après les édiles, tiendrait à la pureté des eaux. Il n'en est rien mais l'argument sert du milieu du XVIIIe siècle au début du suivant contre les marchands flotteurs de bois.
