Abstract

[eng] Abstract Summoned for the commemorations of the 150th anniversary of the Bastille-day in 1939, the memory of the French Revolution haunts the Communist Party's discurse during the troubled period from the German- Sovietic Pact to Russia's invasion in 1941. This group of themes and patterns, constituted during the climbing period of the Popular Front, is used with a certain arbitrariness according to the circumstances, for example to condemn the alliance with «imperialist» England and the warmongering of Daladieťs and Reynaud's governments. After Hitler's assault against sovietic Russia, Robespierre the pacifist is left for Danton, who exhorted people to revolt together against his enemies. On the 20th September 1942, when the «Second Valmy» failed, the memory of the Revolution finally meets the history in progress, that of the Resistance.
