Abstract

[eng] Abstract Studying the wills of the nobility of the Faubourg Saint-Germain in the 19th century shows their attachment to Catholicism. In spite of all that has been often asserted, the faith of the nobility educated during the Ancient Régime is not only a conformist attitude but, on the contrary, seems to be a deep conviction they had since the early 1 9th century. The youngest of them also seemed to be attached to the Christian values, specially in the second half of the century, and some of them even favoured the influence of the Church.
