Abstract

[eng] Abstract The french economic history between 1789 and 1815 remains inedaquetely studied and known. Here, we will just propose a brief synthesis on this subject. The commercial breakdown has begun from 1791 but was overall obvious and big in 1793, when has burst the maritime war brought by the franch revolutionary power. Afterwards, nothing was convenient for trade. Particularly the maritime trade was severely struck. In spite of a few fine success, the solutions of substitution conceived and the growth of ground trade have very incompletely brought one answer to the needs. Besides, as the trading activities were essentially urban, the french cities have particularly suffered, first and specially the harbour-cities. The economic growth of Paris was important but no sufficient to balance the losses. Therefore, in 1814-1815, the royalist feelings was very strong in the french cities.
