Abstract

[fre] Résumé A cause du grand écart entre la densité de la population masculine et la faiblesse de la population féminine, le problème du peuplement de la nouvelle France a été considérable et préoccupant. Afin de résoudre celui-ci, les Filles de Roi, véritable institution officielle ont été expédiées vers le nouveau monde. Elles y constituent, dès leur arrivée, un marché matrimonial. Dans cette étude démographique très minutieuse l'auteur analyse les comportements nuptiaux spécifiques liés à une telle situation : rapidité de la nuptialité, conditions des contrats de mariage, dispense de bans, annulations et mariages successifs.
