Abstract

[eng] The Globalization of the World Car Market : the Japanese Impetus . In the late 1980s, Japanese car manufacturers started transplanting some of their production system features in Europe. Their ways of organizing production units and dealing with suppliers have gradually been adapted to the Old World. . European manufacturers have drawn their inspiration from the Japanese methods. However, the Japanese might become the first truly global manufacturers and may take advantage of this situation to increase their competitiveness if their ability to efficiently manufacture in Europe and the United States is confirmed. This strategy is the extension of an active policy of agreements and alliances with their competitors.
