Abstract

[eng] Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur : Employment and Unemployment Both Rose Considerably Between 1982 and 1990 . The working population of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region rose by more than 10 % between 1982 and 1990. The part played in this growth by migrations from other regions is a determining factor, even if the cohort reproduction effect and the change in labourforce participation patterns also play a positive part. The important effect of migrations can be found in all the region's departments, except in Bouches-du-Rhône. . The growth of the working population in the region brought about a considerable increase in unemployment, in spite of a rise in employment which is noticeably higher than the French average. In the department of Alpes-Maritimes, there has been a very substantial rise in employment while unemployment was kept at its previous level.
