Abstract

[eng] Unmarried Couples have Less Property than Married Ones - For a comparable income, unmarried couples have less prosperty than married ones. In relation to ownership, even unmarried couples who have lived together for a long time or who have children, behave more like other unmarried couples than like married ones. While, for most households, real estate constitutes the main part of the property, unmarried couples are less likely to own their main place of residence. However, a large number of them own housing which is not their common place of residence and that they have often acquired when living previously with another person. . Even thought they don't own real estate, unmarried couples don't really plan to acquire any. Young people who live together claim that this is too early in life for them to think about it, or that they have no intention of doing it; unmarried couples with children believe that it would force them to do without other things. . For a comparable income, and in spite of the fact that they less frequently invest in real estate, most unmarried couples don't make any financial investments. They save money, generally in a savings bank account, either in case something happens, or to be used whenever they feel like it.
