Abstract

[eng] When women work and when they stop working: Diplomas and the family - Various factors, which are more or less interwoven, have an influence on a woman's decision to work. These factors can be defined by trying to identify their separate effects. First and foremost, women who hold degrees are more active. However, the better-paid the husbands are, the less encouraged to work the women. . In addition, women whose mothers did not work stop working in higher numbers. There is also a link between the activity of a woman and that of her mother-in-law: married women are more often active when their mothers-in-law held a job when they were young. Last, mothers of a large family, whatever their ages are, are less likely to have a job, but, strangely enough, they often stopped working before their first children were born.
