Abstract

[eng] The mother's professional activity has increased their children's chances of success - The women who have a child and whose mothers worked during their childhood have had better results at school than those whose mother stayed home. They less frequently gave up their professional activity when their children were born. In addition, they more often reached a socioprofessional status that is superior to their father's. These findings remain true no matter how highly educated the women's mothers were, and even for daughters of mothers who didn't hold any diplomas. As far as men are concerned, the mothers' past professional activity was also beneficial, but to a lesser extent than for women.
