Abstract

[eng] Cultural practices, . occupation and medical consumption . Pierre Mormiche . The families of cadres attach the greatest importance to health. Their members doctor more often for preventive reasons, they consume less alcohol and tobacco, participate more in individual sports. The high rate of medical consumption working women, children and older men in this social category is explained in part preoccupation with health. . The working class and agricultural milieux are in all respects the most distanced medical world, which is less easily accessible geographically and culturally. immigrants constitute an extreme case of " cultural distance " from the doctor. . Last, working conditions have opposite effects on recourse to care. Among laborers are the most significant consumers, although the social group " laborers most reluctant to seek care. Conversely, for upper-level cadres and farmers, the investment cuts down the amount of medical care and work interruption
