Abstract

[eng] Since 1975 inter-regional migrations are less numerous - Changes of residence were less numerous between 1975 and 1982 than between 1968 and 1975. However, the structure of inter-regional migrations by age group remained the same. Young adults still move the most. But, retirement is the occasion for an upsurge of mobility, often in the direction of one's birthplace. Different French regions possess a very unequal power of attraction : in 1982, for every 100 inhabitants of the Languedoc-Roussillon region, 16 moved there in 1975 or after In the same period of time, only 4 people in 100 arrived in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais. area. The Ile-de-France region, which previously showed a surplus in its exchanges with the provinces, now shows a strong deficit. It has maintained, nevertheless, a major role in migratory movements.
