Modes de garde et scolarisation des jeunes enfants

Abstract

[spa] Modos de guarda y escolarización de los niños pequenos - «La guarda de sus hijos : un quebradero de cabeza para los padres», tal era el titulo de un reciente artículo publicado en Le Monde de l'Education. En 1982, 900 000 ninos que contaban menos de tres años tenían una madre activa asalariada. Esta cifra facilita la magnitud de los requisitos en materia de guarderías, los que van aumentando conforme se incrementa la actividad femenina. Las soluciones adoptadas por los padres dependen de numerosos factores : equipamientos en escuelas o casas-cuna, ambiente social, medios de vida, tradiciones familiares y régionales. En ambiente obrero y entre la mayoría de los inmigrantes, los ninos suelen a menudo acudir a parvularios lo antes posible sea entre los dos y tres años; las soluciones alternativas dependen más bien de la familia. Los ninos de hogares acomodados van a la escuela más adelante; al principio recurren con mayor frecuencia que los demás a sistemas costosos de guarda : casas-cuna, nodrizas, personal a domicilio. En Bretana y Languedoc-Rosellón, a menudo ninos bastante pequenos todavía van a escuelas; tal no es el caso con relación a la region de Ile-de-France, la más desarrollada en materia de casas-cuna y guarderías. Al pasar de los tres años, todos los ninos van a la escuela y van desapareciendo las desigualdades. No obstante, los hijos de cuadros dirigentes están más escolarizados que el promedio de niños. Ce chiffre donne la mesure des besoins de garde, qui croissent en même temps que l'activité féminine. Les solutions adoptées par les parents dépendent de multiples facteurs : équipements en écoles ou en crèches, milieu social, ressources, traditions familiales et régionales... En milieu ouvrier et chez la plupart des immigrés, les enfants vont souvent à l'école maternelle dès que possible, entre deux et trois ans; et les solutions alternatives passent plutôt par la famille. Les milieux aisés scolarisent leurs enfants plus tard; auparavant ils recourent plus que les autres aux modes de garde onéreux : crèches, nourrices, gardes à domicile. En Bretagne et dans le Languedoc-Roussillon les enfants sont souvent scolarisés assez jeunes; ce n'est pas le cas en Ile-de-France, région la plus équipée en crèches. Après trois ans, les enfants vont massivement à l'école, et les disparités s'estompent. Toutefois, les enfants de cadres sont plus scolarisés que la moyenne. [eng] The supervision and schooling of young children - "Adequate supervision for children: a mind-bender for parents" was the recent title of Le Monde de l'éducation. In 1982. 900 000 children of less than three years of age had a salaried working mother. This figure shows the extent of the need for supervision. And this need is growing with the number of working women. The solutions adopted by parents depend on multiple factors: provision of schools and nurseries, social milieu, financial resources, and regional and familial traditions. The working class and most immigrants often send their children as soon as possible to state nursery schools; alternative solutions rest, for the most part, which the family. In more comfortable milieux, children are sent to school later. In the past, they had recourse more than the others to expensive forms of supervision: nurseries, nurses, and baby-sitters. In Brittany and the Languedoc-Roussillon region children, are often sent to school at a rather early age, whereas this is not the case in the Ile- de-France, the region most equipped in nursery schools. After the age of three, the great mass of children go to school and the disparities become less apparent. The number of children of "cadres" sent to school, however, is higher than the average.
