Abstract

[eng] 100000 border workers - Slightly more than 100 000 people carry on their professional activity abroad as border workers. Their number increased somewhat between 1975 and 1982, despite job stagnation among our neighbows. Half of these border inhabitants work in Switzerland. Almost 90 % of border workers reside in six of the main administrative divisions of France : the Haute-Savoie, the Haut-Rhin, the Moselle, le Bas-Rhin, the Ain and the Alpes-Maritimes. The border workers thus, represent more than a quarter of the working population in numerous districts. The jobs offered to border workers differ from one country to another. However, industry is, in general, the preponderant area.
