Abstract

[eng] « Données sociales »: the landscape of crisis - Since 1974, the crisis has hit the organization of social relationships such as they existed in the previous period of economic prosperity. To appreciate this impact, an indepth view of social structures and their organization is necessary. Indeed, individual and collective behavior is not constituted in a separate way in such diverse areas as consumption, family, or housing, contrary to the impression that disconnected studies of these different themes can sometimes give. Thus, women's professional activity reacts upon the forms of consumption, upon family investments concerning housing or children's education. Inversely, the distribution of durable goods, the shift of industrial jobs to the tertiary sector and urbanization have encouraged women's activity. By linking statistical information and analyses covering the whole panorama of social activity in one volume, DONNÉES SOCIALES opens the way towards a greater comprehension of the period in which we are living.
