Abstract

[eng] Employment and Unemployment in april-may, 1982 The results of the New Survey on Employment - According to the latest employment survey, the number of unemployed in International Labor Organization terms in May, 1982, was slightly less than 1,800,000. This figure represents 7.7% of the labor force. The rate of unemployment of young people remained the highest. The more rapid growth of male unemployment, observed over the past two years, continued, linked to the decline in industrial employment. The analysis of unemployment as a function of the situation in the household shows that the wife and children are more frequently unemployed when the husband is himself unemployed. As in 1975, the employment survey was updated at the time of the population census. The new, more detailed questionnaire makes possible an enhancement of analyses of employment. Two new fields are studied: precarious jobs and the number of weekly hours of work.
