Abstract

[eng] Salary trends : a new approach - The trends of salaries are ordinarily estimated through the average salaries earned by a single category of wage-earners at successive dates. In this article, another method is used, namely, the individual following of a representative sample of wage-earners. This method makes possible several new observations. Thus, it emerges that whatever their age, the salaries of workers regulary increased between 1970 and 1975, faster than prices. This observation may appear to be in contradiction with another more classical view, according to which in a given year the wages of workers decrease with age. This article shows that this is only a seeming contradiction. The article closes with an analysis of decreases in salaries which took place during this period.
