Abstract

[eng] The recent evolution of labour costs - The results of European Economic Community's survey on labour costs in 1975 will not be available before the middle of 1977. Therefore, during the present severe inflation period, the Statistical Office of European Community has been requested to up-to-date the results of the previous survey carried out on the matter, regarding 1972, in the different member-countries. The calculation which was elaborated with regard to France shows, as it was expected, a strong increase of wage expenditure between 1972 and 1975 : + 62 % with regard to workers hourly- wage, + 50 % with regard to employees' monthly wage. Generally speaking, wages are parti- cularly responsible for such increases, even if in 1975 the increase of unemployment insurance, rate caused a burden on labour charges amounting to about 46 % of the wage versus 42,9 % in 1972. However, with regard to her partners, France's labour-costs as well as Italy's, are fairly below those of Federal Republic of Germany and of Benelux.
