[eng] 1975's census : slackening of the housing market? - The preliminary results of 1975's housing census put forth the following information : the number of permanent residences amounted to 17,8 million, that of country or holiday dwellings to 1,7 million. On the one hand, vacant dwelling stock increased in about one third since 1968 and amounted, in Febraury 1975, to 1,6 million dwellings and, on the other hand, the average size of households by dwelling has largely decreased, either in rural or in urban areas. The author puts forward a few explanatory assumptions of such phenomenon: merely demographic factors (fertility decrease, marriageable post-war generations and increase of old-age persons, increasing the number of small-size households) and also a self-reliance inclination among members of the same family.
