Abstract

[fre] On attribue parfois aux dépenses d'armement et aux exportations un rôle important dans l'expansion remarquable de l'économie américaine. . 1° Les dépenses publiques (essentiellement grâce au secteur de la défense nationale) ont opéré une redistribution du Revenu national qui a transformé très profondément la structure du marché américain, grâce à un relèvement sensible du pouvoir d'achat réel de la grande masse des consommateurs américains. . 2° A cette demande d'une ampleur nouvelle est venu correspondre un potentiel de production très accru. L'économie est donc repartie après les hostilités sur une base beaucoup plus large qu'avant guerre, et encore susceptible d'expansion. . 3° Bien que la contraction du secteur militaire ait été très rapide après la guerre, ce dernier occupe encore une fraction plus élevée qu'avant guerre dans le Produit National Brut. . 4° Les exportations n'ont eu qu'un rôle secondaire dans l'expansion de l'économie américaine, mais cependant non négligeable pour certains secteurs de l'économie.
