La concentration des établissements en France de 1896 à 1936

Abstract

[fre] Étude d'après les recensements de population des variations du nombre d'établissements en France, classés par activités collectives et tranches de salariés, ainsi que du nombre de patrons, de travailleurs isolés et de salariés : on observe une diminution du nombre total d'établissements employant de la main-d'œuvre rémunérée, par suppression de nombreux petits établissements (mais les plus importants se développent) ; en même temps se produit une augmentation des effectifs salariés ; il en résulte une concentration de la main-d'œuvre dans les établissements, d'ailleurs limitée à l'agriculture et à l'industrie, et freinée par la crise économique qui débute en France vers 1930. . Essai de représentation graphique du phénomène dans les principales branches industrielles de 1906 à 1936, et tentative de mesure, grâce à un certain nombre de coefficients faisant ressortir chacun un aspect différent du problème (nombre d'établissements, nombre moyen de salariés, importance relative des gros établissements, etc.), permettant ainsi de classer les industries d'après ces critères de concentration.
