Quelques aspects de la situation économique au Canada

Abstract

[fre] L'économie canadienne est étroitement liée à celle des Etats-Unis, ce dernier pays étant à la fois le principal client et le principal fournisseur du Canada. . Au cours des années récentes, l'essor de l'économie canadienne a été favorisé par l'afflux de capitaux étrangers, principalement américains. Des industries nouvelles comme celles du pétrole et de l'extraction du minerai de fer tendent à se développer. Les récoltes de 1952 sont excellentes. . La situation financière du Canada — bien qu'il consacre près de 10 % de son produit national brut aux dépenses militaires — apparaît particulièrement saine. Le budget de l'État est excédentaire, les réserves d'or et de devises s'accroissent et le dollar canadien fait prime sur le dollar américain. . Cette prospérité n'en reste pas moins précaire dans la mesure où l'économie canadienne apparaît plus ou moins dépendante de l'économie américaine et où le Canada ne dispose que de moyens limités pour lutter contre les répercussions d'une éventuelle récession aux États-Unis.
