La situation du tourisme en Suisse

Abstract

[fre] La Suisse, dont la balance commerciale est normalement déficitaire, comprit de bonne heure la nécessité de tirer tout le profit possible de ses possibilités touristiques. En 1938, grâce aux recettes du tourisme, elle couvrait 90 p. 100 du déficit de sa balance commerciale. Ce pourcentage est tombé, après la guerre, au-dessous de 30 p. 100. Cette chute correspond d'ailleurs à une diminution sensible du nombre des arrivées et des nuitées. L'hôtellerie a subi le contre-coup de cette évolution. Le taux d'occupation des lits est insuffisant pour permettre de constituer des réserves. Sa modernisation risque de s'en trouver gênée. Elle a dû recourir à des emprunts et se trouve aujourd'hui fortement endettée vis-à-vis de la Confédération. Cette crise du tourisme helvétique oblige les autorités responsables à prendre des mesures pour redresser cette situation.
