Abstract

[fre] Depuis le début du siècle jusqu'à la veille de la dernière guerre, l'accroissement de la production du plomb a été moindre que celui des autres métaux non-ferreux importants ; à ce premier fait est venue s'ajouter la baisse de l'extraction mondiale au cours des hostilités, baisse importante de l'ordre du tiers. . Aussi, les disponibilités sont-elles aujourd'hui relativement réduites. Or, la demande déjà très vive, risque de devenir encore plus forte, en raison des besoins urgents de la reconstruction, qui viennent s'ajouter à la tendance permanente orientée dans le sens d'une utilisation plus étendue du plomb, par suite des nouveaux emplois découverts par la technique. . Alors que le cours du plomb variait très peu avant la guerre, cette offre limitée en regard d'une demande toujours plus pressante a pour conséquence une hausse rapide des prix, qui semblent devoir se tenir pour longtemps à un niveau élevé.
