Abstract
The need to promote the Health Information Systems degree program in Havana through social media was highlighted. The descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted between October and November 2024 at the Faculty of Health Technology of the University of Medical Sciences in Havana. The study involved the 36 students enrolled in the program during the study period. Instagram is the most widely used social network for learning about academic and job opportunities, used by 42%, followed by Facebook at 25%, and LinkedIn at 7%. Students prefer content such as informational videos about programs (32%) and infographics about career options (17%). Regarding the type of information they want, 22% want to learn more about curricula and courses, while 20% seek information about career opportunities and jobs. Research projects and professional internships are the least requested, at 6%. Promoting the Health Information Systems program through social media is essential to increase its visibility, attract new students, and strengthen its relevance in both academic and professional contexts.
