Abstract

This issue features timely and policy-relevant studies on inclusive development and governance in the Philippines. The first article examines gender gaps in micro, small, and medium enterprise policies during the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting the need for gender-responsive frameworks to strengthen resilience and recovery. The second article investigates the socioeconomic determinants of food insecurity using nationally representative data, offering insights for targeted interventions that integrate social protection with household food production strategies. The third article presents baseline findings on Local Development Councils, assessing compliance and participation quality to inform reforms that deepen citizen engagement in local governance. Finally, the issue includes a book review of A Better Metro Manila? Towards Responsible Local Governance, Decentralization and Equitable Development, which critically explores decentralization’s legacy and pathways for equitable urban governance.
