Abstract

Provides an overview of the three main UK house price indices published, detailing how they are constructed and explaining why they can differ.There are a number of house price indices that measure the rate of inflation in the UK housing market. This article provides an overview of the three main UK house price indices published by the Department for Communities and Local Government, Nationwideand Halifax. It details how they are constructed and explains why differences can occur between these three measures.
