Democratizing Global Governance for Sustainable Human Development

David Woodward argues that sustainable human development requires a system of global governance radically different from that which exists today – one which reflects the values and objectives of the twenty-first century rather than the vestiges of the colonial era. He proposes fundamental changes to bring decision-making processes into line with generally accepted democratic principles, and to place human development (i.e., the well-being of the majority of humankind) at the centre of the development agenda rather than economic and commercial interests.
