Abstract

In 1998 Sara Cameron was asked by the UNICEF office in Bogotà to write a report on the Children's Movement for Peace in Colombia. In the course of research she talked with around 150 children about the war and their efforts to build peace. Some of the words of those children appear below. The report, ‘Making Peace with Children’, was submitted to the Nobel Committee in support of the nomination of the Children's Movement for Peace for the 1998 Nobel Peace Prize. They were renominated in 1999. (Ages quoted refer to the age of the children at the time they made the statement.)Development (2000) 43, 23–27. doi:10.1057/palgrave.development.1110112
