Esfuerzos cooperativos y etapas previas en la internacionalización: el caso de Telefónica

Abstract

Este artículo explora un terreno relativamente poco cultivado por loshistoriadores económicos de los países de habla hispana pese al formidableatractivo de sus implicaciones económicas, tecnológicas, normativas ygeopolíticas. De acentuado enfoque interdisciplinar, descansa en unacombinación equilibrada de fuentes primarias y secundarias. Se enmarca, sinasumir la totalidad de sus postulados, en la escuela gradualista de Upsala yaborda la «internacionalización antes de la internacionalización» de Telefónicaa través de la participación de esta empresa en los satélites artificiales. Frutode esfuerzos cooperativos transnacionales, la creación de estos eficacessistemas de telecomunicación contó ocasionalmente con presencia de paíseslatinoamericanos. La participación de Telefónica en el sistema español desatélites coincidió con el arranque de su inversión exterior directa, materializadacon la entrada en Chile en 1989.
